Heres my first stab at a Crimson Skies MOC--havent played the game, but Ive
really enjoyed looking at the official place designs & various MOCs. Ive
always wanted to do a twin-tailed space MOC and saw this as my change. This
design stems from my love of three planes: the Northrop P61 Black Widow, the
Ford Trimotor, and the Lockheed P38 Lightning.
Plane story: After the success of the McDonnell Kestrel and the Curtis and
Peacemaker, both twin-tailed designs, Ford started working on their own
twin-tailed plane for patrol and especially zeppelin escort. As fortune would
have it, plans for a Northrop twin-tailed fighter fell into their hands early in
the design process; they adapted the plans to a Ford powerplant, modified the
gun layout, and starting building with few other changes. The plane proved
extremely effective in midair combat, its rear gunner and powerful engines
making up for its wide turn radius.
Crew Story: Gunths Gryphons are a unit attached to the 3rd Air Wing of the
Detroit Militia of the Industrial States of America. Captain Frank Guenther has
proven himself time and again in air combat, while gunner Tony Ryan perforates
anything trying to sneak up on the plane.
Model Highlights:

-Air intake under the side engines (all right, so its not a highlight but I
really like the feature)

this is uber sweet dude... I been thinkin about this kind of stuff since i was a
kid. Its funny how a silly video game can bring this out of ya...
Family legend has it that the grandfather company of Kane StarCrafters run by
ElKane himself secretly made its fortune profiteering from the air wars of the
20th century under the name of ElKane AeroArtesanos, the South American producer
of the finest airpirate ships available. Although no proof of this company has
ever been found, countless downed pilots have been known to tell tales of being
out gunned by the custom airfighters of this ruthless cartel whos actual credo
was to leave everyone alive as a warning of the possibility of thier potential
wickeness and cruelty...rumor has it that legions of thier descendent live in
secluded colonies past the outer rim to this very day...!
The only known photo of the Kane Patriarch is this crude

I think these Crimson Skies MOCS are brilliant. Especially as you guys are
making the sepia crew pictures to go along with them. I am still dissapointed
that I cant import the Crimson Skies planes into Microsoft Flight Simulator!
Anyway, I think these MOCS are worthy of their own dedicated website to showcase
all the different militias on one page. Just a thought.
Keep em coming.

You probably can, but you'd have to program them
in. I don't know if any Flight Sim Toolkits or
other devices exist to aid such an endeavor.
Then again, it may be fortunate that they can't
just be imported in form; I have a strange feeling
that the planes are, sadly, aerodynamically "fan-
tastic" and wouldn't work in a real-life scenario
without some serious tweaking. (See: Fairey Battle,
for the problems attending a fighter with a big
honkin' gun turret.)
But boy, are those MOCs ever pretty. Keep 'em coming,
Peter! (Now you just have to build some zeps...)

If I ever build a zeppelin, I'll take a hint from Lego's Technic Idea Book from
back when and just do it with a two-liter bottle =)
Or maybe the Adventurers Zeppelin? Nah, too small...
Hey, you're the one with all the grey--why don't you work on that?
