Yes, this mobile platform (and the other two: [1] MAP & [2] MSP) were greatly
inspired by the tank seen at the end Masumane Shirow's _Appleseed_ anime. For
those who don't know anything about these magnificent mecha, read near the
middle of this page: http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Fuji/3598/shirow_vehi.html.
Simply put: Shirow is a god! Well to me anyway. ;-)
