Well, so this it. My fifth Mobile Platform. Sigh, I wish I was more excited, but
after almost four years of building them I feel like moving on to something
different.
Aha! But thats what the year 2004 is for; a new objective for me to find. A new
concept. I hope it will be as well received as my Mobile Platforms were on
LUGNET. I will try my hardest to not let you guys down, or myself for that
matter. :-D
BTW, Im definitely going to build something else during the remaining two weeks
of the holiday break, so if this mecha doesnt strike your fancy, well then
youll have something to look forward to.
Enjoy.

| | | | | | | | | | | | | n»MDu make brown look gooood. This is probably the closest youve come to
the Appleseed Mobile Platforms, in design terms, and I love it. Currently the
cute little 30mm under the chin is my favorite weapon; after all that big nasty
railgun goodness and all those missiles, its kind of refreshing.
Critique:
TransBlue doesnt look very good on this design, especially with the brown. Id
suggest switching it out for yellow, or maybe... dang, its hard to find trans
colors that go well with brown.
Take care,
Soren

Haha... I *so* agree with you on that; machineguns never get boring. :-)
Thanks Soren.

Yeah, youre right again.
What can I say, Im a man of compromise; I had to make do with the only trans
elements I had enough of.
Brown is definitely a hard colour to work with, in terms of mecha.
:-(
You too, I hope to see new stuff from you soon.

Mladen, you have definitely mastered the walking tank. And, the sensor pod.
I may have to steel that vision block, if you dont mind?
Looking forward to your next MOC.

Yeah, I better get started on it.
Thanks again for the reply Mark.

im going to have to agree with you: youve definately done quite a few walking
tanks in your time, and i also look forward to seeing something new. HOWEVER,
this latest mecha is yet another example of your expertise with lego
mech-building. the size of it and your attention to detail astounds me. i
really dig all those little guns, rockets, doors/hatches, radar/targeting
equipment, etc. i would have liked to see you go in a new direction with those
cannons, however; ive seen the rectangular shape in your other designs, so a
different shape might have been in order here, imho. they also seem a bit too
small in proportion to the rest of the tank. color scheme is awesome (as you
are famous for doing) and the shape of the main body is definitely
unconventional--which i like. overall another fantastic model (which we should
expect nothing less), but i must admit i am really looking forward to your
creations in 2004.

Yah, I know what you mean. Maybe its cause theyre pushed back so much; they
just dont project menacing enough. :-)

Hey cool MWP, Loaded with cool peices. Very utlilitarian.
I like the details and the electronic sight on the top is very cool.
I always like it when you make one of these. Hey the model looks really solid.
Is it really beefy?
Great photos too.

Yep! It sure is beefy. I used a lot of interlocking plates and bricks in the
inner structure; its very rigid. The feet are also very strong, and wont splay
out on slick surfaces.
Thanks again Eric.

Mladen,
This is another absolute triumph in 'mech design, no doubt about it.
I agree with everyone on the joy of the details--the sensor pod/mast,
the measured utilitarian "ugliness" that screams of military function,
and all the attention put into both greeblies and the elimination of
visible studwork on the exterior.
My favorite details have to be the color balance, the "toes," and that
adorable (!!) chin gun, though. The combination of aesthetic and
function just keeps me looking again and again. It's so clearly stable,
massive, and functional that it adds to the beauty of the critter.
A couple of questions:
I noticed you had one shot with the cockpit roof taken off; is that
designed to be removeable, or was it a partial disassembly for the
purposes of photography?
Are the turrets on the nose segment (the four vertically traversing
ones and that spiffy little chin model) simply on Technic friction,
or (as I hope!) mounted with 2x2x2 click socket blocks and pin plates?
I just get the impression that everything which moves gives a nice,
satisfying "click," is all.
Whatever you decide to turn your attentions to next will no doubt be
another step forward--I look forward to seeing it, and until then,
I'll just drool all over my monitor until then.
best

Thank you so much LFB. Really, those comments just made my day. :-D

No, sorry to say it wasnt designed to be removeable.

Wow, excellent observation. Yes, I used the 2x2x2 blocks.

Haha, thank you once again LFB.
Believe me, I too will drool all over my monitor when I see your next creation
(that is if you have one planned). If it is anything like those battleships your
built, well... I think you can imagine the reaction youll get from me. ;-)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Mladen, this 5th MWP is epic! The guns...its all about the guns... the machine
gun in front is the money, and the leg-mounted rockets look ready to deal some
death. As usual, the color scheme is distinctly your style. The brown elements
really contrast nicely with the sacred gray. So many great details on this one,
the cockpit, the blue lights on the feet, and the ammo magazines, too many to
mention. As with all of your projects, Id love to see this one in context,
wreaking havoc in a town setting, or boldly striding the wastelands. As always,
I look forward to your next efforts.

LOL! You (along with Eric) always give the best replies.
Thanks Keith! Im glad this model is epic. And yep, the little chin-gun is all
money baby.
Also, I do wish I could put this model in some diorama, but my collection isnt
large enough to handle that kind of setup. :-(
BTW:
After I finished this model, I couldnt help but think how similar in style the
MWP was to some of your stuff. Especially the light-grey areas; very blocky and
hard. I dunno, subconsciously I must have been influenced by you, since I do
greatly admire your work. I guess this MOC is an example of our two-styles
merging. It looks very drab too. Almost like a walking Wehrmacht bunker. :-D
Thanks again.
