Model I made of Caesarea Amphitheatre

One of my favorite places

You can see the real thing in

www.israelimages.com/see_image_details.php?idi=7927

The old stage is ruin and there is a modern one, a lot of great singers from Israel still perform there

I’m working on a viking shipyard for an exhibition in Høje Tåstrup next month. The shipyard itself is ready, so now it is time to build longships.

What do you think of it?

Any blatant anachronisms?

in march of this year, some members of our group were asked to create mocs to celebrate the ancient egypt exhibit at ottawa’s museum of civilization. i created an architectural moc after doing some research to try to make it at least somewhat historically accurate. there are not many pictures out there of actual ancient egyptian houses. this result is a composite take on a nobleman’s villa loosely based on floor plans i found.

i knew i couldn’t create a figless moc but it was difficult to gather enough plain yellow torsos to populate the villa with as many slaves as an affluent egyptian would own.

the most fun i had was creating the door design and the front gate. when i demolish the moc, i will save both pieces and create another doorway study for my series. i printed a custom coloured cloth to create the canvas awning for the roof top, yes, it is non-lego.

enjoy the folder including floor plans and research photos.

Yes, illustrating Revelation the biggest challenge to date, but also probably the most rewarding to complete, and certainly a lot of fun to work on.

Any plans for the whole Brick Testament to be released as one (huge) book or a series of volumes?

There are no plans in motion. But I certainly like the idea of one huge book. Just need to wait for a publisher to come along with the balls to publish it. The publisher of my first three books seems to have shelved the idea of a fourth book after what they considered lackluster sales of the most recent book, The Ten Commandments. Of course, in my totally unbiased view, I think they (or someone else) could score a big hit with a Life of Jesus book, or Revelation.

The cut flex-tube idea is a nice one, David.

I did have to test it real quick before I posted th at, but I happened to have both parts sitting on my desk at the time, so it didn’t take very long.

I always feel a little weird about using cut flex-tube. The less “purist” a technique is, the more I hesitate before using it to reconsider if there’s not a more purist way to achieve a comparable effect without resorting to the knife. Then again, when it comes to The Brick Testament I’m no stranger to the knife when its benefits outweigh my hesitations to use it.

And no, this is not a circumcision innuendo.

Really? Are you sure? Because the one instance I can think of where you definitely did mod a part was cutting up God’s little helmet...

Cutting flex-tube is one of the few things that even most purists are okay with, along with pneumatic hose and basic string (the stuff that doesn’t have plastic bits attached). The only reason for this is that there are sets that are impossible to build without cutting those parts because they don’t pack them in precut lengths. Now, that is to say that some (most, many, a few?) purists are okay with modifying them, but I know there are people out there who would cringe at the idea of putting official LEGO stickers on parts other than the ones where they’re shown in the instructions (dunno what they’d expect you to do with all the bonus stickers you get in nearly every Batman set).
