Escher Picture - "how we did it" now on BimP —Andrew Lipson
(...) Stevn Combs asked if I would let BimP publish the secret; you can find some spoiler pictures and a summary of the building process there, at (URL) "Models". Enjoy! I'll add to my own web page in a week or so. Andrew (22 years ago, 21-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Sean Devolites
(...) Two words: Very cool. How long does it take you guys to put something like that together? How much work do you have to do on paper? (I'm just full of questions, aren't I?) Hasta La Vista, Sean (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Andrew Lipson
(...) We thought about the picture on and off for quite a while. I'm not sure how long, because we've been drifting back and forth from one Escher picture to another trying to decide which to do next. In fact, I'd already started a mock-up for (...)         Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Jason Spears
(...) figure out how you did it. Obviously both you and Daniel really study Escher's work and do a lot of trial and error before getting the finished product. Very impressive. (...)         Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Jason J. Railton
(...) Wow! That's brilliant. I'm trying to figure out how it's done. Are the stairs on the right, coming up towards the nearest corner, actually sloping down? Or is there a break in the upper corner, with the edges hidden by those two figures (...) (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Bruce Hietbrink
Beautiful! and maddening! How in the heck did you do that? You're getting better. The last one I could kind of tell from the picture how you did it, at least the columns. This one totally baffles me. The central hole between the stairwells is (...) (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Andrew Lipson
(...) All is now revealed at BimP (www.bricksinmypocket.org) under "models" :-) (...) Not as exciting as all that, I'm afraid. We just used a bunch of white 1x2 half-stud spacer plates. (...) Well, I have to admit that we got a bit lazy about (...) (22 years ago, 21-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: MOC: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Don Heyse
     (...) I love these Escher sculptures! Make more please. I suspect the secret to this one is all in the upper right corner. A quick attempt to approximate it with LDRAW ends up like this. 1 2 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 4186.DAT 1 7 470 0 420 0 0 1 0 1 0 (...) (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Bruce Hietbrink
(...) AH HA!!! You've found it! I should have seen that, too, because I was counting studs, but it totally slipped past me. Bruce (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Don Heyse

Re: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —David Eaton
(...) Heh, that's how I found it-- counted studs as best I could, noticing that that wall was rather shorter than it should be :) But remarkably well done! It took me a while of searching desperately before I broke down and started counting studs. I (...) (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Andrew Lipson
(...) I was afraid that the minifig size discrepancy would give it away! But I'm glad we managed to keep you occupied for a bit ;-) (22 years ago, 19-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)

Re: Another Escher Picture - Ascending and Descending —Paul Baulch
(...) Yeah, the minifig size discrepancy was what gave it away for me - but it did take close observation to notice. Well done! Cheers, Paul (22 years ago, 20-Sep-02, to lugnet.build)
