Hello!

On October 23rd 1805 - that’s today 200 years ago - the Austrian writer Adalbert Stifter was born. His novels are broadly considered boring, but at least he is the author of the book “Bunte Steine” (Colourful Stones) which title can - in German more than in the English translation - be considered a label on our hobby. The colourful stones are, of course, not LEGO bricks but rock crystall, iron pyrites and other minerals. That’s just the background for this picture:

When I built the chair I realised how rare green 1×2 tiles are. So rare in fact that I had one to substitute by two 1×2 tiles. The desk was actually done by rote. Chairs, however, that fit to minifigs are still a challenge. They almost ever are slighty too big, though.

Bye
Jojo

Whenever I see a furniture post from you I know it will have low piece count and a very high ratio of those will have unusual and innovative uses...

No less than 6 really cool odd part tricks here! I am including the use of jumper plates as drawer fronts. The inkwell (2), lamp, chair back, chair arms...

There is not an uninteresting brick in this composition!

Like the great still life paintings, you observe a color harmony, and there is a circular flow among the composition’s parts for the eye to follow.

I am reminded of other “minifig playing” mocs over the years, such as the Lugnet block playing characters, the Royal Train, Minifig Museum of Modern Art...

I just love this moc and can’t stop looking at it.

Dunno about you, but I’ve got plenty of money tiles that I’m prepared to sacrifice to get more green tiles.

I do the same thing to my actual $100 bills when I find myself in need of a small piece of paper to write on.

It’s really touching that your prolificness (prolificity??) as an author has enabled the rockstar lifestyle!

I have to ask though, do you have the “no brown M&M’s in the ready room” clause in your appearance contracts though? THAT is how one knows one really has arrived. (or so I am told. I wouldn’t know, myself)

Well, it’s not in my contract per se, but I did have Van Halen open for me at the last few book signings.

Rare?  I can find up to 447 green 1x2 tiles (3069b) for sale in one lot on
bricklink.  Maybe you should head on over to the search function there, and
see what you can find - I'm sure someone has them at a bargain price.  ;-)

Perhaps you were unconsciously thinking of the much rarer 1x1 tile (3070b)
in green?  Of which I can see at this time a maximum quantity of 17 tiles
for sale in one lot on bricklink.  ;-)

Happy hunting!  ;-)

Cheers ...

Another great furniture collection! The hat/lamp design was by far my faviourite part of this scene though the chair back is well thought out as well.

Keep up the great work and God Bless,

Nathan
