Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) I've enjoyed your work for quite a while now. I must say, however, I am not real fond of your copious use of the word "murder" in recent chapters. The term isn't used in the original texts (of any translation I know of). Replacing the original (...) (19 years ago, 27-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) Hi, Steve. I was only able to locate one instance of my use of the word "murder" in the recently added stories (though if I missed something, feel free to correct me). At Judges 14:9, I have: "The spirit of Yahweh then seized Samson, and he (...) (19 years ago, 27-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

Brendan, beautifully done as usual, but I have one question about your methodology. How do you photograph your action shots, like the one found here: (URL) you use blocks behind the falling balcony pieces to hold them in place while you photograph (...)   Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

Hi, Scott. (...) Thanks! (...) a long time to set up. And they are generally very fragile, so just as I get everything into place, my wrist bumps into something and lots of stuff collapses, and I start over. My previous big collapse-in-motion scene (...) (19 years ago, 27-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

Hey Brendan, Great job as usual. Prostitute - Great face choice for the prostitute; that over-done eye shadow is perfectly slutty. The blue/white aesthetic you use for the Philistine town is very remniscent of (URL) Deborah Higdon's microscale (...) (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

Hey, Bruce. (...) Thanks. (...) Well, one theory of the origins of the (URL) Peoples> (of which the Philistines were a part) is that they came from the Greek Islands. (...) Delicately put. Thanks.   Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) Good point, and I agree with your solution. (...) On the topic of customization of that hairpiece, this reminds me of Pat Morgan's customized (URL) Saxon>. Bill Vollbrecht did something very similar with his (URL) Willy Wonka>. (...) Go to (...) (19 years ago, 28-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) Cool, thanks for those links. I hadn't seen those. (...) Oh my. LEGO tape. What wouldn't be possible if I allowed myself to use that! Must resist the evil urge! :) -Brendan (FUT set back to .ancient) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) Outstanding, as usual. I like the philistine minifigs. It seems like every time you do a new story I think you'll be out of ways to portray different cultures. But you always do it great. Anyway, I was reading through some of the other (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

(...) I think that a lot of the old testament is probably collected from the notes of the rabbis of various tribes. And those people probably acted like a combination spiritual guide/general scribe of their tribes. So what we see is a combination of (...) (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, FTX)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

Tim and Felix, Can you please move such non-Lego discussions out of the .build group? Thanks, Clark (19 years ago, 29-Sep-05, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: The Brick Testament: Samson and Delilah

I'll reply to Felix here just so it goes into ot-debate instead of .build. (...) First of all, thanks. I love the challenge of coming up a new look for each of the many and various peoples mentioned in the Bible. And it's really a tribute to the (...)
