Micro scale Vogon Constructor ship. Never did completely finish it but I need the pieces for other projects.

Well, it’s not quite the shape depicted in the 1980 BBC TV mini-series, and it’s definitely not a grey block from this spring’s movie (now on DVD!); and although it’s not all that interesting at first glance, it’s got several cool features:
  • The studs-down splayed-toe quad landing gear, with rubber bands -- are the gear bistable (spring! sproing!), or do they get cranked down?
  • The cavernous end-to-end cargo bay with arched supports. The jaw-hinged hatch doesn’t quite work as a ramp -- do the sub-vehicles exit on antigrav (agrav, contragrav, repulsorlift)?
  • The X-Pods on either side of the bridge do nothing for me aesthetically, unless they’re meant to give the ship a bug-eyed look.
  • The ducted fan-things on the chin make it look like it’s trying to be a submersible. Destructor beam projectors?
  • The parallelogram design of the side-pods is intriguing, but they don’t have any play-features.
  • I love the pic with the microscale construction vehicles and the green frogs (including the one perched on the hull).
FWIW, a while ago I experimented with the contours of the Starship Heart of Gold from the TV series; the one shaped “like a white running shoe”.
