Hey all,

To celebrate the new chess set, here are two vigs: Chess in the Park and Checkmate.

Pawn to rook four!

Good stuff, and the second one is especially clever. What a great use of posture to convey the action! The Rook covers while the Queen goes in for the kill; the White pieces are reeling in shock and defeat.

Outstanding.

If I would be the white king i´d like my bishop to kill that black queen...or isn´t it a bishop standing there?

Great work as always Bruce,

I especially like the ‘large’ (seems like an odd adjective to use in vignette context) park chess set!

God Bless,

Nathan

Thanks, Marc. I’m glad the actual chess set-up is apparent. I played around with it for a bit to figure out a situation that could actually occur in a game (this presupposes that the king is up against the wall and that the rook was covered by some other piece before the queen could move in for the kill).

I liked the SNL transcript, but I don’t remember ever seeing that sketch.

Hey,

No, that’s supposed to be a knight. No way to get a horse in a 4x4 spot, but I figured since it was a basic knight-in-armor it would work.

Thanks,

I’ve loved those ever since the first time I saw one in person when I traveled in Europe after college. It was fun to play around with different piece designs at that scale.

Ok, I thought the King and his companion were in their starting possitions...and It´s to often the King die without being moved.

Nice combination with a great game and Lego.
