Hello Everybody!

Well, today's the day!  The bid official launch of my new website.  After
dealing with mixed thoughts about continuing to maintain my old website
(www.rotule.qc.ca, dead now) or upgrading it, I opted to creating a new and
improved website with th best features of the old one and some new features.
Without further delay, here is the new url:

www.minifigville.com

The new Homepage is THE page to visit often if not daily.  There, you will be
able to see what's new, what's been updated, your daily LEGOROSCOPE and a bunch
of other things.  With the left menu, you can access every important pages on
the website in a single click.  The navigation through the website is very easy
with this menu.  It also displays a bunch of random links for the LPC, Top 10,
LEGOROSCOPE and Posters, so there's always something interesting to visit!

Like I said, I kept only the best features, which means everything but the "Ask
Merlz" section which didn't get much visits.

The main attraction was and will remain the Minifig Hall of Fame, which was y
far the section that received the more hits per month.  In order to capitalize
on it, I've changed the formula to make things more interesting.  There will now
have 2 rounds for the election of a Minifig into the HoF.  Therefore, only 6
Minifigs will be inducted into the MHoF every year.  To read all about the new
rules, visit http://www.minifigville.com/mhof/rules.shtml
The first election will start on January 1st, 2004.  It will, as before, start
at the beginning of each month.

The Posters section was also a popular section, although people don't visit on a
daily basis.  From comments I've received via emails, it's clear this section is
one of the most appreciated.  The 2002 Contest
http://www.minifigville.com/posters/2002contest.shtml was a real boost to the
interactivity and it's only logical to announce there will soon be another
contest, probably in January 2004, so you can start your posters right away!
http://www.minifigville.com/posters/
I'll try to add at least a poster every Tuesdays, but I can't promise I'll
always have the time!

The LEGO Picture Captioning and Top 10 sections have always been very popular
among a small group of people.  I hope it will continue to grow and attract more
people as I believe it's one of the most original LEGO-related activity on the
web.  Don't think I'm taking the credit for the idea, though, as I took the idea
from theforce.net.  Anywaysm the LPC will now be updated on every Thursday and
the Top 10 will be updated on Mondays.  I'll try very hard not to miss an
update, as these sections are best when updated regularly.
http://www.minifigville.com/lpc/
http://www.minifigville.com/top10/

The Legoroscope look has been completely redone.  We will add more fortune
sentences very soon.
http://www.minifigville.com/legoroscope/

Finally, there's now a forum to discuss about the website's sections, other
LEGO-related stuff and so on.  Please take the time to post a little message now
and keep visiting it often so the forum can lift off.  It's always hard to start
a forum, it takes the participation of many people.  I think it can be very
interesting, for example, to know what you think of a particular poster.  It's
the perfect way to express yourself.

A totally new section is already in the works and will be added in January.
It's called StudWars and it will be fully interactive, very humoristic and
highly entertaining!  It's a mix of LPC, Top 10, and, well, everything else :-)
But I can't tell you more right now...

There are also 4 other sections projected for the beginning of 2004.  Most of
them will be completely interactive, so there will always be something to do
when visiting www.minifigville.com !!!

So come visit MinifigVille often and add it to your bookmarks!

Thanks to YOU!  You just made my day :-)

I hope other people will be infected by your enthusiasm and submit many funny
answers to both LPC and Top10!  These sections rest entirely on the visitors.
More people getting involve can only mean better results!

In January?   Well, January came earlier this year :-)

Indeed, StuWars is now online!  It's fully operational and you can already vote
and write your comments about the first ever StudWars combat :

JarJar/Timmy vs. Justin/Kelly : Who's worse?

http://www.minifigville.com/studwars

The idea is quite simple.  Every month, we will have a new war between different
opponents.  One of the opponents will always be a Minifig or a LEGO set, or
anything LEGO-related, thus the name "Stud"Wars.  Why they are fighting and what
it is about will be different also.  This time, it's a war to see who's the
lamest.  Next time, it might be to know who'd win a street fight between Johnny
Thunder and Indiana Jones, or wh'os the greates wiz between Majisto, Gandalf,
Dumbledore, Merlin or Yoda (well, Yoda isn't really a wiz, but he'd kick butts
anyway :-) )

At the end of every month, we will show you the best comments people have
submitted to us.  The best comment will also be highlighted.

Seems familiar?  Well, as for most other ideas on MinifigVille, this idea was
"borrowed" or inspired if you prefer by another website.  StudWars is inspired
by http://www.grudge-match.com/current.html

StudWars is highly interactive.  You don't only get to vote for the winner, but
you can say what happens or why you voted for him/her/it.

Not that we are short of ideas for future wars, but if you have any good
suggestion for an upcoming StudWars, send it to terry@minifigville.com.  The
best ideas often come from visitors and I appreciate the input.  In fact, I try
as much as possible to use the ideas people send me.

I hope you like StudWars!  I can tell you that it's already one of my favorite
sections, and it barely started!  It will be a lot of work for me, much more
than LPC or Top10 for example, but I'm sure it will pay off!

I can't wait to read all the funny and original submissions you'll write at
Studwars!

Terry,

I can't read the text. The background colour is so dark that the text melts into
it without killing my eyes. Can you change it?

Alan

PS Great idea BTW.

What browser do you use?  On IE, the text is, as supposed, white on a dark green
background.  It's fairly easy to read.

My guess is you use an old browser or a browser that doesn't support some tags.
In ny case, have you tried selecting the text with your pointer devide (mouse)
to read it?  The fansite that have spoilers, like TheForce.net about StarWars,
use a white text on white background so you can't read it by accident.  You can
however read it easily just by selecting the text, then the text jumps to your
eyes!

Anyway, tell me what system you have (PC or Mac) and your browser.  I'll see
what I can do from there....

Terry
