Actually I'm using IE5, and perhaps I'm just hallucinating, but that was
my first impression when I clicked on the "compact" link.

NN has (long had, and still does, I believe) a bug where, if there is no <BR> before a closing </TD>, it goofs up the leading on the line of text, adding about 1/6 em of (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
