Hey Guys,
I have a challenge for you for 2001. Do not pay retail for any sets in 2001.
This of course does not apply to promo, HTO, or S@H exclusives (you are lucky
to get a deal on these items)
But what I am aiming for is a year that I do not walk into a TRU or Walmart or
whatever and pay the full retail price. There are enough stores that do blanket
% off LEGO several times a year, that here in North America we can go without
paying the full retail price.
Who knows maybe we can send a signal to LEGO that we want prices a little more
reasonable... doubt it, still the final result would be having a little more
money in your wallet or a few more pieces in your collection.
So far I have bought all my 2001 sets at 20% off and it is not 2001 yet. :-) So
when new sets hit the store wait a few weeks for them to go on sale before you
buy them. I have yet to see LEGO run out of a set permanently between hitting
the shelves and going on sale. Heck, I bought my Falcon at 20% off last summer
just as it was being released.
So there you have it, let's be conscious about saving money.

| Except for the occasional necessity to finish a project NOW NOW NOW, I haven't bought full-price lego in years. I take advantage of all the BOGO 50% sales, as well as hit the after christmas sales with a vigor as well. It shouldn't be too much of a (...) (24 years ago, 27-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001)
