Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) [snip] (...) #1 is also related to the color. (Ok, I've said enough on this. I'll shut up now. *grin*) (...) Calling it grey-green seems like calling pink grey-red. :) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

(...) You're assuming 'they' are going to act like a single-minded organism, with a single vision and plan. LEGO Direct would be very interested in supplying train parts *right now*, to respond to explicit demand for the parts. That does not equate (...)   Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) I looked up the definitions. To paraphrase, "the color of patina is verdigris". Patina is a surface film. Verdigris is a color. Both are primarily associated with rusted copper, but Patina has broader usage, not related to color or metal. (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: A good use for 2001 Alpha Team

(...) I couldn't help thinking that with the little water inlet on the new Alpha Team baseplate that it would make a great Pirate/Imperial base. (URL) God, please make LEGO bring back Pirates next year. Thanks in advance... SteveC (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general, lugnet.pirates)

(...) Like the OED. verdigris v@+-Rdigris. Forms: &ia.; 4 century verdegrez, 4-6 century -gres(e, 5 century -greys, 7 century -gresse, -griese, 7-8 century -grease; 5-6 century verdegrece, 6-7 century -greace, 7-8 century -greece; 6-9 century (...)   Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) Right -- patina is the filmy layer, whereas verdigris is its color. (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) But this Grece story is debatable, despite being reported in common dictionaries. (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) In the circles I frequent, 'patina' is always qualified with a color name, like red patina, green patina, brown patina. Not that Lego is going to come out with all those nice colors. -Erik (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: Color name for Statue of Liberty Sculpture #3450

(...) As an aside, Sunday morning on NPR's Weekend Edition a story mentioned 'verdigris' and 'patina' (and i thing 'aged copper') in the same sentance. Isn't it odd how once you hear or see a word it shows up 'everywhere'? Or maybe I'm just paying (...) (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.year.2001)

Re: here comes the next wave of 2001 sets...

(...) How do we know this? (25 years ago, 6-Nov-00, to lugnet.year.2001, lugnet.general)
