Cut off the dying vine —Jon Furman
Hey, does anybody out there even care about the rock raiders? I mean the last post in this forum was three weeks ago, and he was looking for hats to make wild west items. I hope that all of the R&D that went into this whole Rock Raider system of (...) (25 years ago, 21-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine (or Rock Monster clan) —Chris Maddison
(...) True. Every set has too many specialty pieces, and they can't be easily integrated into other themes. Plus, the price:piece ratio is too expensive. I'd buy a few of the sets, IF they went on extreme clearance. Of course, that would only be for (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground, lugnet.castle)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —John J. Ladasky, Jr.
(...) The cost per piece in the Rock Raiders sets is higher than for any other theme, and the number of juniorized parts and SPUDs is in general quite high. I suspect that parents balk at the former, and both AFOL and discerning JrFOL (who would (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Shiri Dori
(...) Personally, I balk at both. (I could be considered as a JrFOL, but I like to flatter myself to think that my POV is more like an AFOL's. :-) -Shiri (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Pearson Castner
Actually, (Me being a kid myself) I only bought some of the rock raiders sets for one reason- the minifigs. They have the coolest new heads, and the torsos make good special-ops 'figs. My little brother , on the other hand, bought the full set.. He (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Shiri Dori
(...) I agree the minifigs are not bad at all. I got the $3 set to get Jet (the female) and if I see the m-f pack on sale I'll be happy to get it. The big sets, tho', seem like a waste of my money (which is limited, and I'd rather see it going on (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Josh Opotzner
(...) Yep. Thank god they released a mini-fig pack:) Buy the RR video game and your sure to want a few of the sets. I actually like most of them, especially the base, which is just perfect for buying on clearance. One thing I was dissapointed about, (...) (24 years ago, 12-Jun-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Sergio Guerra
(...) Hello, I picked up the minifig pack. They are great for space recruits. The small sets offer more than the big, cause the big sets are ripoffs. Rock raiders have awesome potential. Rock raiders are like a good joke with a bad delivery. (...) (24 years ago, 13-Jun-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Andy Verner
(...) Launch Command is sort of still going: I consider Space Port to be sort of a Launch Command II. I hate how Lego is giving up on all the classic themes, though. I didn't miss Pirates much (the eyepatched stubbled heads get annoying when you're (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Jeff Johnston
(...) Er...Knight's Kingdom isn't Castle? OK, it's not as good as some of the earlier sets, but neither is Space Port as compared to Launch Command... J (24 years ago, 15-Jun-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: Cut off the dying vine —Josh Opotzner
(...) Yeah:) Thus far I have accumulated three of the set, as well as more than a few hover scouts and rapid riders. It's a shame the big sets arn't as cool as the little ones. I do think it was very noble of them to pack a crystal in with all the (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jun-00, to lugnet.underground)

        The lone dissenter —Dave Johann
I care very much about the Rock Raiders. I'm in the process of building them a mega-base and adding new members to the team. Anyone who knows me knows there are two things I desire: M-tron and Rock Raiders (and mechs, but that's not a Lego theme). (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

I feel that the theme would have been better if they had used technic parts more in all sets, but as it stands I like it a lot. (...) (25 years ago, 22-Apr-00, to lugnet.underground)

Re: The lone dissenter —Dave Johann
(...) Leave it to me to re-open multiple threads from 2 months ago, but here I go again... Aaron, I can respect your dislike for the 'Chrome Crusher's Baseplate', but I wanted to point out that even evil pieces can serve a 'good' purpose. Obviously, (...)         Re: Cut off the dying vine —Matthew Ferguson
I kind of agree with you. I wish they would replace this series with actual mechs. I also keep hoping to see an ancient greece topic, something based Jason and the Argonauts ot Clash of the Titans themes. Something instead of just plain mini-figs (...)         Re: Cut off the dying vine —Mike Petrucelli
(...) I agree that Rock Raiders sucks as a theme the way Lego has done it. I do however think that the mini-fig pack is the best one since the early 90s as all figs can be used as generic "grunts" as I wrote here: (URL) that I have changed this to (...)
