The Southern California LEGO Train Club has finally completed its latest layout, currently on display at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California! The Southern California LEGO Train Club will be displaying their revamped and new layout this weekend (Sat, Oct 12 and 13) at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, CA (www.discoverycube.org). During the train roundtable at NWBrickCon, among other subjects we talked about the possibility of building a layout for realistic operation rather than round-and-round loops for public viewing. Recently I got the chance to visit the PNLTC mall layout, and let me say that it was great! What an excellent opportunity for displaying a layout, I can only hope that other LTCs can be as fortunate to find a way to set up more long term layouts. (...) MSLTC took first place at GATS in Little Rock this weekend. We took a 42 x 36 layout, included RailRacers and a K8 play area. Had lots of people spend most of their days there. (...) Yup. Good points. I think the thinking behind using 2x3 was that it's large enough to be a significant block.. it does not take roadways into account and thus won't work on a 30" wide module.
