Hi Paul,
the short answer to the setup question is that, at least for all current
members, everything is broken down and packed in boxes or stacked; no modules
are transported as a setup affair.

Contrast that (and thanks for the long description) with the GMLTC.
Thanks to the core member whose stuff all of it is, there is a custom
trailer that can hold modules and folded up tables. Each module stays in
the trailer between shows unless it is being worked on. The modules
(remember, made of LEGO(r) and about 22 bricks high) are moved
completely assembled with scenery, buildings, bridges, etc left attached
for the most part. Only the rolling stock is moved in boxes.

The stock boxes are large freestyle boxes (similar in size to an airport
shuttle box, say) that are two part. A 5 faced bottom part (with the top
face missing) is covered by a 5 faced top part (with the bottom face
missing). These boxes are fairly sturdy corrugated cardboard. The bottom
of the box is lined with wavyfoam (like what is used for acoustic, or
padding) and the stock lying sideways in the foam is held snugly in
place by the lid when it is placed on it.

These boxes were purchased in a large quantity from K-Mart, they
contained the large partitionable drawers with side handles (in red or
blue) and bulk bricks... those drawers form the basis of the sorting
system in Conan's basement.

So the purchase has served multiple purposes. Bulk bricks, storage
drawers, and moving boxes for finished models.

All this transpired before I got here. John G. can speak authoritatively
if he's around.
