I got tracks and train set recent, now I am planing to make motorize switch point, level crossing, cargo crane, and so on, I want to refer all other information and instructions from train experts, does any tell me where I can find most useful (...)         Re: Motorize switch point —Christopher Masi
(...) There are other automated points out there, and mine copy some of the features seen on those points. (URL) PGP public key available upon request. (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
I had read your design, but you said the house will be separated from the track after about a half dozen cycles if it is operated at power settings 5 and 6... What do you mean? is it useful auto switch point if I understood your meaning? Zhengrong (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Christopher Masi
(...) The point works reliably at power settings of 1 or 2 (the first or second notch on the LEGO speed regulator), but if you turn up the power on the LEGO speed regulator to 5 or 6, the motor that moves the point will pop off. Chris (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Here are some pics from a design I just finished about 1 month ago. It will stay together for several hundred cycles. It's controlled by mind storms. (URL) under points SteveB (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
Can you show me the instruction and NQC program? I want to refer them. BTW do you have any other MOC for level crossing, automation train by RCX or Scout? Zhengrong (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Dean Husby
(...) I do. I was waiting until our new VLC page is finished but it's taking ages. (URL) 4 pictures and one ~900k avi of it in action. I used LED's for the Lights and standard Lego Lamps for the emitters. I used Photo Transistors for the pick ups (...) (24 years ago, 15-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
You said you used LED's for the Lights and standard Lego Lamps, what do you mean? if you used LEGO lamps, why do you still use LED? Zhengrong (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Dean Husby
(...) The RED LED's are for the crossing lights. The LEGO Lamps were used for the sensor on one side of the track and a photo transistor on the other. When the train went between the two it activates. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego (...) (24 years ago, 16-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
Could you tell me if you need a metal condenser before LEGO lamp? Zhengrong (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Dean Husby
(...) Metal Condenser??? If you mean the plastic silver reflectors, yes I used those. OTher then that it was just a 9v power source. Dean -- Coin-Op's For Sale!: (URL) Lego Workshop: (URL) Lego Club: (URL) (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
I thought is made by metal. Anyway, is it possible if you don't use it, I mean if the light sensor is still activable? Zhengrong (...) (24 years ago, 25-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Dean Husby
(...) The reflector lets you "beam" light directly at the sensor, I'm not sure how well it will work without it. You can get one in the (URL) 3801 Ultimate Accessory Set They also are in the Studio Movie sets... Time Twisters etc... I've got a few (...) (24 years ago, 27-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Motorize switch point —Matt Agnew
(...) Well, I've done switch points with much success, and the cargo crane with little. Here are some older pix, I've got some new ones coming up. (URL) eighth picture down is the cargo crane.         Re: Motorize switch point —Zhengrong Zang
I had read your document, but I have a simple question, who wil control your "Small Air Cylinder"? if we use motor that can be controlled by RCX, Scout or regulator. (...) (24 years ago, 17-Jan-01, to lugnet.trains)
