Thanks to the digital camera, I'll have photos of the bridging used in my
"Limacion" track layout up around Wednesday, and since the far end where
the trains come around and make a u-turn (so to speak) you can see some
photos of my curved design.
Someone asked earlier (Stephen F Roberts) with what method did I use to
build the bridges? I did do some sketches, just basically drawings of a
parabola, hyperbola, cantenary and other such forms (ok, I admit, I used my
graphing calculator and a book of tables) and used them as templates. I
then used some right angle geometry, 3-4-5 or 5-12-13 triangles, etc but I
also used good'ol "trial and error" to find lengths that would work.
Concerning those lengths that weren't whole values, I found the 1x1 w/ a
single hole and 1x2 w/ two holes very useful!

| Adrian, Some very impressive pieces of engineering! The outside trusses and sheer scale must make it very exciting to follow a train across. Please, some shots of your curved bridges too. -BMW (...) (24 years ago, 2-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)
