Do they leave the coils uncovered in the UK? In the US coil cars have

it's interesing that the grainer has a rotating cover. US practice is to
have individual  hatches that you have to go topside to open. How did
you do the rotating cover with only one thickness (just the tiles) or...
did you fudge it? The LDraw isn't clear on that point. Nice use of side
mounted steering wheels to simulate the bottom opening controls.

The top cover is for decoration only. It doesn't swivel and there isn't a
opening underneath. Nearly all of that size of vehicle have rotating covers,
as do most 2-axle ones


Overall..

VERY nice work, and the Ldraw and proto stuff really adds to the page
value.


I'll consider that encouragement to create some more...

(...) kind that are taken off with a crane. The challenge with these is that the covers get lost or mixed up. The covers usually have the RR company logo on them and tracking numbers as well. Occasionally, I have seen a gon with one cover on it (...) (26 years ago, 8-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains)
