everyone went a little overboard with the linkages between the wheels. I found
by using simple universal joints it not only gave the train the ability to go
around the curves but even up and down ramps.

The Other Problem

I usually would never modify a lego piece, Those grey hubs from Technic sets
are perfect size for these Steam Trains. The only problem is that the hub has • a
1/64th of an inch lip on the face and the inner part has a 1/4 inch extrusion.
Making it impossible to use on Switched and Crossing Tracks. Once I have the
steam train complete and tested on an oval track I will remove those wheels • and
place each one on a Lathe and remove the Lip and Extrusion. If I take the time
to really do it right, I should still be able to place them back in on the
tires if I need the Technic Wheels again.

Power?

How do you drive such a big Steam Engine. I looked at one of the (HO)
trains that my father had, It shows the power coming from the Coal car. I
tested it out and it seems to work, You really need two 9v (5300) and lots of
weight.

I don't have any picts because my camera batteries died on me, DOH! I will be
posting the picts in the usual place once I get the batteries replaced.

Wow! Nice. For power, you could use a train motor for the lead truck.
