Have folks done trolley wire or catenary?

For the first show I do this for, I think I am going to go with just the
poles and leave the wire out, but eventually I would like (simulated) wire
if I can suss out how to do it.

What abour http://peeron.com/inv/parts/342c01? It comes in lengths of up
to 23L so you might have to join it midway.

Interesting... How to join it in a smooth and clean way? That seems to
present the same problem as how to attach the string, you end up with
something sticking below the plane of the string that the trolley pole or
pantograph would (if actually engaged, I plan to run them a bit below as
its non functional) snag on...

For trolleys maybe you could use http://peeron.com/inv/parts/4081b or
http://peeron.com/inv/parts/6019 which protrude only a little.
|
You could also possibly mount these
horizontally from your poles, and simply wrap string around the end. May be
difficult to get enough clearance on bends though.
You could also tie string between poles mounted on opposite sides of the
track(s) and attach the trolley wire to these cross wires by sandwiching
between dots or 1x1 plates. Snag possibility may be higher, but very easy to
setup/adjust/tear down.
