Just a follow-up to add my latest incarnation of the yard slug, this time in Canadian National colors. You see them working in tandem a lot with EMD GP road-switchers in CN’S larger sorting yards.

I’ve added a version that is LEGO’s standard 6-studs wide in addition to the 7-studs wide I usually design. Its got complete handrails but the flex-tube will have to be cut to the proper length. The bogies’ rotation is limited by the white vertical handrails next to the steps. In LDD, this rotation seems sufficient for curved track but I haven’t tried it in real life.

Here’s my take on a yard slug. Slugs are just frames with traction motors mounted on the wheels. The traction motors are fed from a slightly modified (added power sockets) diesel/electric locomotive that is coupled to the slug. At low speeds, the (...) (18 years ago, 9-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX) !
