Jan Beyer of LEGO told at 1000steine, that all trains will look like this and he gave a (lame?) explanation, that there are limitations in designing the single-piece-mould, that forced them to do a shape with huge gaps like this. They could not do it better and this is not a bug but a feature.

I cannot believe this, but at least this is, what Jan got to hear and forwarded to us.
