Hi,
Does anyone know if phone or thermostat wire is a suitable or (more importantly)
safe replacement for the 9v train wire?  If not, anyone know what I can use?  I
am running 45 feet of track in a loop and I want to run additional wires from
the transformer to boost the current at other spots on the track.

Thanks,
Tom

it's perfectly safe to use and model railroaders used it quite a bit in the 50's
however i would suggest using braided wire instead of solid core. from what i'm
told braided wire has less DC voltage loss  "or was it less resistance" over a
distance than solid core. the oppisite is the case for AC.

Either way i would use something like speaker wire instead of phone/thermostat
wire.

Ondrew,
Thank you for the info.  I'll use your suggestion.
