The NGLTC and CUT groups are also now home, and cleaning up the mess that Dennis left in Atlanta (some of the streets near me are still flooded, but thankfully my apartment was left unscathed).

I had never been to an event at this scale; I’ve stayed local for the past 2 years. And I was blown away, not only by the quality of the various layouts, but also by the quality of the people behind them. I met so many helpful people that either helped pack or unpack the CUT, made food runs, etc. And I can’t begin to list them all, mainly because I’m really bad with names. I think it’ll take two or three more big events for me to learn all these names.

I still have to go through my photos to post and to “borrow” ideas for some MOCs that have been on the back burner for a while. I was taking so many pictures, I killed my battery twice (I wised up and just brought a recharger on Sunday).

I thought this was amusing (and unfortunately my camera was packed). As the NGLTC/CUT/GFLTC convoy left Cincinnati Monday morning, a train was coming in over the viaduct. I was looking at the various stock cars going by, picturing them in brick, when a green hopper goes by. The leasing company’s abbreviation?

BRIX

It would have been better had the train been leaving Cincinnati with us, but still...

Again, I can’t begin to express enough thanks to those who organized this event, to those who helped me, and to those who were genuinely good people to know.

The GMLTC contingent made it home safe and sound, although having travelled a bit farther than expected. (Ok, I'll admit it - I got on the wrong freeway heading out from one of the Chicago Lego stores! D'oh!!) The show was absolutely unbelievable. (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jul-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)
