I suppose Japan if pushed too. I made a Shinkasen out of 2 copies and some extra
parts, after all, way way back when.
Jason's right though, I have, in this thread, fallen into the trap of
categorising everything, accurate rendition or not, that isn't US proto, as
European. That's not correct.
The EARLY stuff LEGO did was clearly european-ish (7745 etc), but starting from
4559, they veered off into fantasy land for a while.
