It's been too quiet in here lately, so I thought I'd dig something up. This
one's for all the fans of the rivalry between EMD and ALCo. It's ironic that the
two have been blended into one another by our guys. Check it out:

This is the WDM-3D class, and its a fairly recent addition to the lineup. At
first glance, it looks like any other ALCo, but if you look closely, you'll
notice some EMD in there. The fuel tank is like the WDP-4 (EMD GT-46), and so
are the sandboxes. A lot of the tech stuff is also EMD, though the look of the
loco is all ALCo. It's a pretty interesting loco which is slated to replace(?)
the old WDM-2s.

| (...) What do you mean by that exactly, does ILW have licenses for stuff from both builders and uses some tech each way, or was this unit a rebuild? It's not unheard of to hear of RS-lls or FAs that got their 244s pulled and replaced with 567s or (...) (20 years ago, 30-Jan-05, to lugnet.trains)
