I am experimenting with and there is some discussion in my club (michlug) about
trying it in a small show. While I was studying up on DCC and how it would be
used at shows and event I had an idea.
If you have a show or event where people bring equipment from different people
or clubs we might want a way to tell whose equiptment is whose.
Many decoders have CV105 and CV106 which are "private" ID's". These variables
(in the decoder) can be programmed to any 8-bit value and read back. They have
no other use and are intended to be an owner ID. This gives 64K unique ID's
Maybe ILTCO could have a registry for ID's so that wherever you went your loco's
could be identified.
Lester
PS: If this has not be suggested before and it is adopted, I claim ID 1 for me,
ID 2 for Larry P and ID 3 For Steve Ringe
