That's what I did--I have a whole box full of broken and other misshapen LEGO
bricks and I tried dremelling a few of those first. Then I cut up 30 dollar
switches :)

I own 2 micromotors and about 20 regular motors. I think I'll stick with the
regular ones for the switches :) Thanks for the walk thru on taking the
switches apart!

My SD70ACe can handle the switches as they are, and it's the longest one I have
so I'm not too worried.

Yeah, that's the issue now--once you start down this dark path of modifying
bricks, then everything looks like it could use a 'slight' modification. "Hey,
if I cut that brick this way, I can make that!" :)
