Re: Another Motorized Switch Design :-)

(...) Ok, Dave is right, this is fun! So, I added the axle joiner and this is what it looks like now: (URL) Moving the housing back allowed the signal arm to be simplified. Since the housing was moved back, there's now more clearance (about 1/2 stud (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Slotted freight cars

Recently I've been working with this part: (URL) felt that it could be useful in creating some nice looking freight rolling stock. I believe I was right. I was able to come up with a simple design that worked very well and I reproduced the design in (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.trains)

  3 axle trucks

I want to build a SD70m in 7 wide but wanted to figure out how to do the 3 axles first. Here's what I came up with. It will cross switches and cross overs in forward and reverse and at varying speeds. It also matches the detail of the decorative (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Another Motorized Switch Design :-)

(...) Well, all is not lost... I think I have a workable solution, though it isn't as elegant looking as before and adds 1 brick to the height: (URL) And: (URL) It uses Plate 2 x 2 with Hole (#2444) to secure the bottom of the motor: (URL) This part (...)   New gray track doesn't match

I just compared a switch track that that I just recieved from S@H (happy birthday to me) to an old switch track that I have had for a few years. First, I now know what people mean by the new stiffer points. My old points are the "old not as stiff (...) (21 years ago, 15-Dec-03, to lugnet.trains)
