The SCLTC is proud to announce it's participation in the 2nd Annual Knott's
Rail Fan Weekend and Railroad Enthusiasts Day, January 11-12, 2003, Knott's
Theme Park, Buena Park, CA
Our latest Multi-level Mountain town layout will be appearing for 2 days at
Knott's Theme Park (a.k.a. "Knott's Berry Farm") in Buena Park, CA, during
their Rail Fan Weekend. We are planning a new look to the downtown area of
the layout as well as some new items for our "find 'em on the layout" list.
Besides the SCLTC's L-Gauge Layout, there will be displays from other local
model railroad clubs showing off their N, HO and O layouts on display both
days, Saturday 1/11/03 and Sunday 1/12/03. Once inside of Knott's, you want
to head to the "Kit Kat Club" (adjacent to the "Boardwalk Ballroom") to see
our display! The display hall is expected to be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00
PM both days.
The Railroad Enthusiasts Day will be Saturday 1/11/03 and is a special
ticket event to see the behind the scenes action of their real live steam
train. You can tour the Roundhouse, talk with a train engineer, explore the
Denver and Rio Grande Rail cars inside and out plus much more. Ticket price
is $40 and includes a full day admission to Knott's Theme Park, a
Commemorative T-shirt, Mrs. Knott's Chicken Lunch, Behind the Scenes Tour,
and Themed Exhibits.
Knott's Theme Park is located at 8039 Beach Boulevard, Buena Park, CA 90620,
(714) 220-5200.
Regular Ticket Prices for admission to the park are:
Adult General Admission (ages 12 and older) Price: $42.00
Child General Admission (ages 3-11) Price: $32.00
Senior General Admission (ages 60+) Price: $32.00
NOTE: I've been told that there are Discount Admission tickets to Knott's
Theme Park at Food 4 Less now through January 7, 2003. Prices at the
participating stores are:
Adult tickets $22.95
Kids tickets (ages 3-11) $9.95.
Tickets purchased at Food 4 Less are valid through February 23, 2003. These
tickets are NOT valid for entry into any of the special activities that are
part of the Railroad Enthusiasts Day on Sat 1/11/03, except the model
railroad layout displays on display as described above.

| (...) This is way cool. Two things: 1. it would have been nice to give more advance notice of this, if it was available... this is the sort of thing that some people would fly out for if they had enough notice. 2. will Knott's be honoring 2002 (...)
