  Re: Box Cars

I built a box car awhile back using those doors, never scanned the car although. I don't think I still have it together. :-( I'm sure I wasn't the first, but when I showed another PNLTC member he hadn't seen that door used that way before. There are (...)   Re: Box Cars

I have a few of those doors on boxcars, but not used in the sliding capacity. Used as regular doors, they for me make good reefer doors. --John (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Box Cars

That's how I was going to use the doors in the first place but then decided to try them in the rails. I've got to take some time to build some freight cars. Lately I've been busy building scenery and a couple of new diesels, but first I need to (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Box Cars

The idea has possibilities, as all of my box car sliding doors are gray:-p (except a red one borrowed from the 7722) Yo, Tom- when you do get around to building freight, why not try living dangerously and spend some time on the 8 wide side. As Cat (...) (25 years ago, 10-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

8 wide !!! The idea has crossed my mind, do I dare crossover? Could I ever go back? Heck, I suppose anything is possible, I dare to build mountain and landscape(1) with ... BURPs. :-) I must admit although, it is fun to try to stay within 6 wide, (...) (25 years ago, 11-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

8 wide? was Re: Box Cars

I hereby do admit that 8 wide CAN look good. John showed me a boxcar he has been working on, it has a FRED in the end, integrated grab iron ladders, sliding doors, separated roofwalk, and a whole bunch of other details. It looked really good. It (...) (25 years ago, 12-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

Very gracious of you to say so, Lar. Thank you...I think. All of this talk about the dark side makes me feel like Darth Wider or a Girth Maul;-) BTW Lar, what is keeping your pants up these days? You left your suspenders on my train layout! {:^D I'm (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

I never thought I'd live long enough to hear that. But the other thing I wonder if I'll ever see is John's site displaying the said boxcar. ;-) -Tom McD. when replying, most postmen will not deliver to a house with a spamcake guarding the porch. (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)

At John's rate of web progress, we will never see any pictures of his stuff. John, you take some pictures and send them to me, I'll post them for you. Got your slides developed yet? Paul (...) (25 years ago, 13-Aug-99, to lugnet.trains)
