My only nit (aside from the usual 8 wide ranting;) is that you call it an
"SD"(for "Special Duty") and use a 4 wheel truck configuration (SDs always
have 6 wheel trucks).  You could easily call it a GP (General Purpose) which
used 4 wheel trucks and be more accurate in that respect.

Really? Belive it or not I'm not a huge train buff. Not to the detail some
of you guys know anyway.
So a general purpose is exactly the same design just two wheel sets less? I
have a wheelset that has a floating middle wheel but found it looked better
with all motors. (It can also pull 10 cars at power level 3). I the LEGO
motors permited I would have added the third wheel.

Not *exactly* (the main difference would be number of fans on the top), but
close enough.  Even *with* the "incorrect" number of fans (which is not to say
that that particular configuration could have existed with modifications, which
happened all of the time), a trainhead would look at your MOC and think
"modified GP40" rather than a modified SD-40)

The SDs had long porches on front and back (because the SDs had longer frames
than the GPs to accommodate the longer 6 wheeled trucks), so if you moved your
front motor ahead 2 studs and added another wheelset *behind* it, and simply
added another wheelset behind your back motor, you'd have the wheel arrangement
about right for an SD.  But since you already have short porches on front and
back, it says "Geep" (GP) all the more.

Sorry, I might have gotten a little too geeky here:-/
