Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) I like these, and I like the idea of having optional builds with each set. Rumours were that we'd see a B-kit before anything else, but these are a nice surprise. I do wonder about the mass appeal of these though - clearly they're aimed at (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) Hmmm. Every model I've seen of the Super Chief has had the stripes. Since I haven't researched the prototype, maybe the designers of the models had used too much "poetic license". Maybe other trains of the time didn't have the same decorating (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) Fine set of cars. But as for the 'silver': I fear those bricks are molded in the new swirly plastic that is supposed to look metallic, but actually looks like really cheap plastic. May still be nice for a change as opposed to regular bricks, (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: May I publish documentatino of the 4548?

(...) Yes, the idea is to make a page about it and how to lower the output voltage and how to get more power from it. As A part of it I draw a schematic of it, which I'd like to publish to with calcualtions. The schematic is taken directly from the (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) I'm not sure they actually *are* missing those stripes. Many pictures of typical ATSF stock from the period show them to be all stainless. For instance the ATSF Super Chief reference that John has posted a few times does not show stripes IIRC. (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) I'm surprised no one has commented on the incomplete color schemes. The cars of Sante Fe passenger cars match the color scheme of the engine (War Bonnet). These cars are missing the yellow and red stripes along the sides. Not big issue, mind (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: May I publish documentatino of the 4548?

(...) Agreed. Ask them! Typically, though, publishing things that you reverse engineer is a lot less likely to cause trouble than releasing information that you obtained from the source. Presumably you've reverse engineered the controller? (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Santa Fe Car Sets #10022 and #10025

(...) Interesting. I called Shop at Homes yesterday (7/3). When I inquired about either car, I was told that they wouldn't be available until sometime in September. The woman I spoke with sounded sceptical about September availability. After your (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: May I publish documentatino of the 4548?

I should add that it is not the exact schematic, the switch for selecting direction will not be in it. The switch for selecting the voltage will be there (but not as TLC has made it, quite funny way). So if I add the text - the schematic can be (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.trains)

Re: New Products from BricWorx now available

Thanks Mike, I don't even want to think about adding up the hours spent on this! And while I'm re:ing, a shout out to BramL for his work and posts on MegaPOV's post_process { find_edges{} } info. It totally made this book possible. THANKS! Also I've (...) (22 years ago, 4-Jul-02, to lugnet.market.brickshops, lugnet.cad, lugnet.trains)
