Hi Rob,
Answers to your questions:
- I buy all my model railroad stuff from local hobby stores (SF Bay area).
- The ones I used are different size than the Lego ones. Wheels are
available in all kind of sizes. I think my green engine uses the smalest
size available from LGB.
- I don't have part numbers, the wheels were left over from previous G scale
projects...
- I don't think you'll be able to fit them in regular trucks: the wheels are
thicker than the Lego ones. They are closer to the old (4.5V)Lego train
wheels than the new (9V)ones. My axles are mounted in Technic beams using
the short (one stud long) connector pegs as bearings (in a metal to plastic
friction case, I'll let you guess who's going to win!).
I guess someone (TLG, hint, hint ;-)) with time on their hands could make
some exact duplicate wheels out of metal (brass, aluminium, steel) for the
9V system.
Greetings,
David

| Are there any places online to get wheels like these Bachmann wheelsets? Are they the same size diameter as a Lego train wheel? Do you have part numbers? Would I be able to fit them into the same truck as regular train wheels? "David Wegmuller" (...) (23 years ago, 29-Apr-02, to lugnet.trains)
