I was taking a break today from analysing some data and I started
working on a longstanding problem I've been having with a model.
I'm trying to build a 5-unit spine car, based on a previous design of
mine ( http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/ctracey/train/spine/spine4.jpg
).
As you can see this model sits rather high on the trucks, so I've
figured out a way to use the wheels without frames:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=14325
This creates a truck that is perfect in height for my needs (saves about
1-2 plates) and allows my design to handle curves quite well. However,
this design is lacking the sideframes on the trucks. I haven't been
able to come up with a good solution to this-- Any Ideas?

But you might get into trouble with your height problem again if you doit the (...) (23 years ago, 28-Mar-02, to lugnet.trains)
