Hi Paul!

Thanks for your kind words!  I've actually had several arguments about the
color scheme on this kit, both before and after it's release, and I'm glad I
have someone on my side here!

As for Lego making 20 more sets like this, you should write them and let
them know that and maybe they'll deliver!  I know I'll keep on making sets like
the Blacksmith Shop, even if they don't.

Dan

P.S. apologies for the delayed response - I just installed new system software
on both of my computers and was offline for a couple days.

Dan,

My Blacksmith Shop arrived yesterday, and I just have to write and tell you
how much I enjoyed building it.  What a pleasure it was to watch all your
beautiful details emerge from this model!

There are so many things I like, so let me name a few:  the black supports
under the second floor; the white and black detail surrounding the three
little windows; the perfectly sculpted roof...

One the best things about this model are the colors: there is a nice variety
of color going on, giving it a story-book quality.  Too many models have
bland color schemes; your Blacksmith Shop is probably the best argument for
using color to define an image.  On another discussion thread, someone
mentioned that gray window frames might have been better, but they weren't
available when you first designed this.  I think the red is just right; it
provides warmth and it accentuates the crisp black and white.  Also, I like
the black and white on the second floor, contrasting with the gray below.
Color can be tricky if you try to be too literal; given the relatively
infantile color scheme inherent in LEGO, you could not have done a better job.

When I had finished building it, I just couldn't stop admiring it, and even
this morning I had to stare at it while eating breakfast.

In my LEGO shipment yesterday, I also received the full train set from the
catalog (the one where you can pick the color of your engine) -- all five
cars and engine with tender -- but your shop was what I wanted to work on
first.  When I move into a new office down the hall next month, I will
probably display this prominently.

Probably you get a lot of compliments, but they are well deserved.  It was a
true joy spending my evening watching this wonderful toy come to life.  If
there were 20 different sets available in LEGO that came close to the
entertainment value of the Blacksmith Shop, I would buy them all
immediately.  Thanks for your work.

Paul
