I have two separate buffers pieces, each attached to a single 1x2 black plate. Any ideas which set(s) these may have come from? (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Simon, These were attached to the 4.5V battery cars. They were used in at least the 7720 & 7722, possibly others: (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)

Using the responses, I've been able to check out the sets on Brickshelf; I'm not surprised I missed them first time round! Judging by the lack of other train related pieces in the box, I guess they are likely to have been sold as the single items (...) (23 years ago, 21-Feb-02, to lugnet.trains)
