My question:

In which sets have the 2x2 ones been used? Probably in 080, 111, 112, 113, • 114,
115 all from 1966 - 1967. But I'm not sure about if all of them had first the
smaller version one, possibly later version 2 or if specific sets have had
always just one specific type of coupling?

As best as I can say, in the UK all the sets you list came with 2x4
couplings. I say this from direct personal experience, except the 114 which
was never available in the UK. Neither was 080 oficially, but I can confirm
that one because I had one specially ordered.

Admittedly 2x2 couplings were illustrated in various places, but never found
in the sets. Have you actually got any 2x2 couplings? If so, do you know
(for sure) where they came from?

That's my problem: among nearly 50 hook couplings which I own, there are a
dozen of the 2x2 kind. So they exist but they are much more rare (I searched
for 2x2 couplings just because of their rarity, when I had more then enough 2x4
ones already.)

I have always bought them loose, only in one case I bought a 111 set with
2x2 couplings (and I'm quite sure it has never been mixed with any other train
stuff since it came in a collection where no other trains where included).

But I think it would make no sense, when only set 111 had come with these
couplings. There are several trains from 1966: They should have had same type
of couplings, shouldn't they?

Kind Regards,

Ben
