Hello, I found two bricks 1x8 in black with a golden "116" imprinted on each

I would like to know, to which set this belongs. From its style I would
guess its age in the early 70ies.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks, Schredder

Hi Schredder,

as one could have guessed easily, these bricks are from set 116 which came in
at least two versions:

- first like this one:
http://www-public.tu-bs.de:8080/~rbeneke/lego/trains/blue_era.html#116

A second has had spoked wheels, motor and batterie box in set-103-style and as
a special highlight this later version has had goldprinted bricks with the
number 116 on them.

Maybe there has been a third version without goldprintings and possibly with
magnet couplings like the later 127 set has had.

Kind Regards,

Ben

BTW: if you want tro get rid of these bricks: I'm sure we might get a deal
