I have a 1970 Samsonite Dealer Catalog, and this set is on the front cover
of what was available from LEGO (Samsonite) that year.

Hi, I don't know much about trains, so I hope someone can help me.

On Mother's Day, *I* got a gift from the parents -- a box of lego they
picked up at yard sale for $2.  It looks like very old trains (per
Pause: perhaps part of set 113?).  Let me list a few of the more
recognizable pieces:

lots of single blue tracks, 4 blue line switching segments
1 blue 4.5V engine block piece
1 black 4.5V engine block piece
3 white 1x6 bricks labelled "POST" in red
4 blue 1x6 bricks with city names in white:
        1 - Genova
        1 - Hamburg
        2 - Basel
4 white car bodies

if you can name the set, do you have an idea where i could look for
instructions/piece count?

I have no idea what i'm looking at here, but the set(s) look neat
nonetheless.  (The box also contained a bunch of more common pieces,
including my childhood favorite, 1x4x2 lattice fences :) )

Thanks in advance for your help,
Nikky

(...) So what's the set?!? Have you scanned the catalog cover or otherwise put on the web any info on this set other than what is in pause? Are there any good resources for older Lego? Yours with lots of questions... :) Nikky (26 years ago, 12-May-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.trains)
