Hi all,
some people have experienced with these big spoked wheels without rims.

Mainly Michael Schian cut of just one of the two flanges of the wheel to get a
train wheel.

But now Holger used the unmodified wheels plus a metal train wheel ring.
The main advantages of this solution are the better running behaviour and
that you have to do NO modifications on the worthful old spoked wheels. The
metal rings are exactely fitting to the spoked wheels. Such rings have been
produced by Torsten Wernecke in red plastic before

, by someone of the PNLTC (no link at hand) and now in highest quality by a guy
with nick "Rat" out of the www.1000steine.de/forum.

There are other (smaller + high quality production) wheel rings available from
a friend of mine. His name is Lutz Gaas and he offers the wheel rings in
Germany for 5 DM per piece. (it's ca. 2.30 $ US). You may have a look at theses
wheels here:

You may contact Lutz under his e-mail (he is not too active on the net, since
he is mainly a oldtimer car collector): LGaas@aol.com
(Sorry for giving this info here: that might belong into the market group, but
I'm not mixed in any trades Lutz will make.)
Kind Regards,
Ben

| HoMa & Ben That's right. Another AFOL from the german forum asked his metall-working colleagues if it would be possible to make some aluminium rims for the old spoked wheels - and it WAS possible. The engine runs brilliant on the tracks. Any (...) (24 years ago, 7-May-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.trains)
