7745 Question

Hi fellow Train Heads,

Here is a question for you that some bright spark may be able to answer, or
not, as the case may be! I have just aquired my fourth 7745 and I am a
little puzzled as to the red/black 3x4 thin walled panels in the set. My
first copy of this set contained 4 panels, 2 panels with the red/black
leaning forward and two panels in reverse. This allowed for the train to be
built as per the instructions and the illustration on the box showing the
red/black panels in allignment with the front and rear slopes of the train
respectively.

My second set had all four panels the same and I thought that it was either
an error in packing or the previous owner may have had more that one 7745
and put them together wrongly. Whatever the reason, I was not particularly
bothered.

My third set was more like a set and a half, having two centre coaches, one
engine and two dummy engines. However ALL the red/black panels oriented in
the same direction as the second set.

My fourth set, aquired yesterday, complete in a box with no additional parts
and the owner had no other lego, contained exactly the same panels which in
no way could build the train as per instructions or box illustration.

Now my question is, how come out of four sets, only one seems to be correct?
Is this phenomena common? Has anyone else come accross this?

Regards,

Peter Simpson

(...) My two 7745 sets are baught as used sets and have been correct built up like seen in the instruction. Both have each two mirrored printings on those 1x4x3 thin wall parts. Regards, Ben (23 years ago, 25-Mar-01, to lugnet.trains)
