  Old #755 switches remote?

Question about old, blue rails switches: Were the two points of #755 only switched manually, or could they also be operated (remote) by an old blue extra button on the transformer? I thought it was only the #753 and #754 that were "automatic"... (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Wheel Car

(...) Ha! The great Larry makes a Misteak...the trucks are mounted to the bolster using a pin!...it just happens to be the weakest part of the whole lot, so it breaks, and the trucks tend to get bashed up a lot (and are relatively easy to move (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Wheel Car

(...) of (...) to (...) Disagree. That's what grey straight track rail is for!!! Or use tiles set on end between studs. I assume you popped the wheelsets out of 9V wheelset assemblies to do what you did so far, right? (...) Depending on vintage, (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Roof parts for 7740 available in other sets?

(...) How to be sure about this? That has been the main point of first request... (...) As far as I know the only sets with the grey 3x3x1 slopes are 7760 and 7725. So these bricks are really rare either and for sure they are not part of the 7740. (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Wheel Car

(...) hmm... difficult to model that in our medium. The prototype i saw was only carrying five wheelsets and they weren't staggered- I'll have to look for more pics. (...) I'm working on modeling a wreck train. It's slow going. (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: How much is a 4558 Metroliner worth?

A good feel for what the current market price for your item would be to look at ebay.com. Doa search for your item and see what other people are willing to pay for the same item you have. (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.trains)

Looking for windshield from set 4564

If anybody has these windshield pieces from set 4564 and would like to sell them, I'm interested (trying to complete a project). (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: Wheel Car

(...) As with all american prototype questions, the answer is "it depends"... :-) However the ones I have seen use 2 or (rarely) 3 sets of rails, welded or bolted to the deck. The sets of rails are staggered about 6 inches apart so that you can (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New MOC: Cargo Sprinter

James does it again... (...) Nice model James. VERY However I would say, why compress it? Try it with the power unit able to carry 2 containers... (although actually, if you use the standard 4x8 container, I suspect it WILL carry two..) So what I (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Wheel Car

For a tension tamer before the first week of classes, I dug out a lot of the lego that has been packed away for several weeks due to my move and built this wheel carrier car. (URL) was inspired from a reference picture that I saw in an (...) (24 years ago, 27-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: PNLTC breaks guiness record!

(...) I had about 200 pieces of track as the loop (my upper loop), and about 30 bogie cars, plus the rest 2 axle cars (so, about 240 axles towed)...the train was 5-7 cars short of being connected at both ends :). Loop was just straight and corner (...) (24 years ago, 26-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New MOC: Cargo Sprinter

(...) etc. I think it was in Rail, just really a mockup that they took for a couple of trial runs, a comment that under unit engines wouldn't work in the UK (because you only have 1.5' for the engine in the UK loading gauge) and 2 photos...it was 2 (...)   Re: New MOC: Cargo Sprinter

(...) The problem is the length of the first car - how long is it? In real life it would take a half container which in LEGO 6-wide container terms would be around 12 to 14 studs long. I think you've got the main part of the cab there which is the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New MOC: Cargo Sprinter

(...) I can't remember that, Rail Magazine had a review of the Cargo Sprinter, saying how the cost compares to lorries. The closest that RailTrack (who run all of Britain's track signalling and stations(1)) have got to the CS is the MPV (...) (24 years ago, 26-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Roof parts for 7740 available in other sets?

(...) Ben... I don't know, but I have picked up a few of those slopes and not all from the 7740. The other day I went to a pram shop cos I knew they had some lego. There was only two tubs of it but they let me root around and take the parts I (...) (24 years ago, 26-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: PNLTC breaks guiness record!

James, taking your word for it -- and I do -- I was very surprised that we couldn't recreate a similar scenario. Question, did you acheive these results on a straight run or otherwise? Did you run for any appreciable amount of time? I believe we (...) (24 years ago, 26-Aug-00, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: New MOC: Cargo Sprinter

(...) One of the UK lines has tried something of the same sort, don't remember details except that since they are relatively compact, they used some MoW equipment as power, and a couple of flatcars as the loadcarriers (something like 2 power units, (...)
