  LTC question

Hello train-heads, I'm interested in forming my own LTC, and I wanted to know if anyone could advise me on the procedure, or direct me the info somewhere else. My LUG brought a train layout to the NWBC, and I thought it would be cool to have an LTC (...) (17 years ago, 16-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: A power rail idea

(...) When I see somebody set up a public exhibition and run trains from 10 AM to 6 PM using batteries, and not give more than passing thought to battery management, then batteries will have arrived. (:holds breath:)...... ....... ....... *pshewwww* (...) (17 years ago, 15-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: 9v train motor compared to IR train motor

(...) A good test of the two motors would be the identical train, with either the RC or 9v motor. In either case power the motor from the RC battery box. To prevent unintended resistance on the 9v motor, run it on RC track. Unfortunately, I don't (...) (17 years ago, 15-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: A power rail idea

With all the advances in battery (rechargeable and otherwise) technology these days, you might be a little shortsighted in your estimation of the feasibility of battery trains. But assuming you are correct, my biggest concern about this idea is the (...) (17 years ago, 15-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: Surprise! ULUG will be attending the Train Show in Idaho Falls, Idaho

(...) The show was a success! In the end only Reed and I were able to attend. Attempting to set-up and take down a 10 table lay-out with only two people turned out to be quite a task! We were exhausted but well rewarded by the enthusiasm of the show (...) (17 years ago, 15-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.org.us.ulug)

  Re: A power rail idea

(...) Sounds like a new and improved 12-volt system. It does eliminate one of the three problems that I felt the 12-volt system had; reverse polarity in turn-abouts. The biggest problem the 12-volt system had was that it was never avalable here in (...) (17 years ago, 15-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

Re: (In)compatibility of RC Trains and Power-Functions

(...) I tried to run the SLTC trains from my bull-dozer controller at our last public show but was unsuccessfull on all channels. I have not tried the RC train controller to drive my bull dozer but i doubt it would work. I susspect the signals are (...) (17 years ago, 14-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)

(In)compatibility of RC Trains and Power-Functions

I am trying to determine whether there is any compatibility between the RC trains infrared remote-control protocol and the Power-Functions infrared-protocol. Does anybody know definitely whether a Power-Functions transmitter has any effect on an (...) (17 years ago, 14-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Rutland Alco RS-3 #205

(...) Close up photos are here: (URL) They were quick snapshots, but I think most of the construction detail can be seen. -Elroy (17 years ago, 14-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  A power rail idea

OK, so 9V is dead. Not a happy thought. Still, the engineer in me can't help but think about ways to work within the new regime. After 40 years of off-and-on model rail and toy train activity, the first thought that comes to mind is that anyone who (...) (17 years ago, 14-Oct-07, to lugnet.trains)
