Just a follow-up to add my latest incarnation of the yard slug, this time in Canadian National colors. You see them working in tandem a lot with EMD GP road-switchers in CN'S larger sorting yards. After some work this weekend, my LDD 'Streamlined Hudson' has improved quite a bit. I scrapped the first one and created another MOC's with two stylings; a Dreyfuss and the the Empire State Express. The Empire State Express is the one that I am most (...) (18 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Monorail trains just run slow. Just how slow depends on your perspective. I just ran two sets of monorail at the NASM (National Air and Space Museum) yesterday. The new monorail set I just acquired last weekend seemed to move a bit faster than (...) (18 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Indeed, Steve Hassenplug & I did exactly this at BrickFest 2005 with the GBC trains - we had two trains running around a single loops, but in this case used four isolated sections so that each side fo the loop was under the complete control of (...) After a (too) long hiatus of train building, I am back. I build the Dutch "Koploper". (URL) I build 4 head (=engine) sections, and 4 passenger cars, I will take it to NMRA 2007 for its inaugural run. A pilot version ran at the GTE Columbus show, but (...) (18 years ago, 22-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

(...) Block control was fairly common on model train layouts before DCC and other digital solutions became available. If you do a google search for "block control" you should find a few references. As some of you are probably aware, there are people who use DCC controls that allow them to operate two trains independantly on the same stretch of track. This system, however, requires that you hack open motor bogeys to install the DCC control (...) (18 years ago, 21-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

You've got a battery-powered, gear-driven drive system that doesn't run very fast under the best conditions, so unless you strip it down to the bare essentials (one sled, one motor, one battery box, and just (...)
