I'm not sure if this has been commented on before... In the current S@H catalog (bionicle cover), in the MOT section (p38-39), the picture of the "Small Train Engine with Tender" seems to have the tender connected to the engine backwards. The "Large (...) (23 years ago, 16-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)

(...) Based on this pic: (URL) think you are right. The vehicle is on an S curve but tilts strongly in one direction even though the angles of the end units w.r.t. the center are the same (in opposite directions, relatively speaking). Need to see (...) (23 years ago, 16-Aug-01, to lugnet.trains)
