I didn't see this posted anywhere here on Lugnet and I myself just found out
about it a few minutes before posting this. I know many here had dealings
with Eric, although I do not know if he ever officially joined Lugnet or
not. I considered him a close friend even though we never met in person. He
died on August, 21st in a car accident while off duty.

Here is a link to his obituary.

I too was surprised and deeply saddened to hear of Eric's sudden passing. My prayers to his family, friends, and co-workers for their loss. Eric will really be missed by all town collectors. His enthusiasm for his fire department was contagious, and he was a collector who knew how to play. Our prayers go with your family, Eric! -Matt (...) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

Here is a link to a web page that Eric created. I can only hope that Eric will be remembered as fondly as he remembered others. (URL) (22 years ago, 26-Aug-02, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

Its a sad day for all minifig firemen... You'll be missed Eric! I wish his family well. I now will be naming a fire hall after Eric, Hall #3 will become "E. S. McDonald Fire Hall". Josh (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

I just found out about it myself, while at work here at the station. I dont there are any words that can express to anyone what it is like to lose a comrade and fellow brother, especially the ones of us that are firefighters as a profession in real (...) My prayers also go out to Eric McDonald's family as well. I didn't know him, but I was amazed at his homepage and his lego apparatus. May he be at peace now. ~Sadly, Evan Butzlaff (22 years ago, 27-Aug-02, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general)

I haven't been very active in the Lego community or even Lego in general for the past few months due to the real world and a lack of interest. I happened to check the email account that I have set up for my site, Legofield Fire Company and saw the (...) (22 years ago, 2-Sep-02, to lugnet.town, lugnet.general)
