A few years ago (in 1997) Lego announced that it would start making sets
geared towards younger children-- easier to build with fewer parts. Many
pieces were combined, making things like the car-chassis pieces, and using
more 1x2x5, 1x1x5 and 1x6x5 walls, as well as other larger pieces. This was
done the most in the Town theme, hence the nickname "Town Jr.". In the fan
community, it didn't take long before these "dumbed down" sets were referred
to as being "juniorized".
