Kevin Loch built a communications tower that had pulsing lights
controlled by the RCX. He wanted to pulse them slower than what is
possible by just a light brick alone. It was pretty cool, although it
was hard to see at the train show space because of the bright lights.
I had a rcx controlled minifig scale welding torch for a while. my
minifigs used it to fix their train engines for a while. select
welding.mpg from this page

note: the version here was controlled by a moter and polarity switch,
but the rcx one worked in a similar fashion.
